Distributed protocols for access arbitration in tree-structured communication channels

چکیده
We consider the problem of arbitrating access to a tree stn~ctured communication channel with large geographic extent, providing multipoint communication among a set of terminals. In our model. terminals transmit information in bursts consisting of many packets and compete for the right to transmit bursts. In the simplest case, the channel allows only one terminal to transmit at a time; this can be extended to k concurrent” transmitters. The problem resembles contention resolution in local area networks. It is distinguished by the topology of the channel, the magnitude of the delays involved and the potential for multiple transmitters. In this paper we identify two general approaches and several specific access arbitration algorithms and make a preliminary assessment of their promise.

Distributed event-triggered scheduling of wireless networked control systems
Computer control systems are commonly designed in such way that observations are sampled equidistantly in time (time-triggered sampling). Networked control systems (NCS) are a special class of computer controlled systems, where sensors, controllers and actuators are spatially distributed and are only able to exchange information over a digital communication network. Due to the fact that these c...
متن کاملOutage Probability Bound and Diversity Gain for Ultra-Wideband Multiple-Access Relay Channels with Correlated Noises
In this paper, Ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple access relay channel with correlated noises at the relay and receiver is investigated. We obtain outer and inner bounds for the IEEE 802.15.3a UWB multiple access relay channel, and also, a diversity gain bound. Finally, we evaluate some results numerically and show that noise correlation coefficients play important role in determining relay position.
متن کاملMulti-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey
Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...

متن کاملA comparative study of access topologies for chip-level address-event communication channels
We examine channel access algorithms and circuits for intra and inter chip communication channels. Classical access techniques such as arbitration, scanning, ALOHA, and priority encoding are compared by assessing throughput, latency, and power consumption. Our results provide guidance in the design of bio-inspired networks of processors, for efficient transmission of information with limited po...
